Thunder Threat Continues
How about them Twins? After faltering a little at the beginning of July, they've turned it around and look to be heading in the right direction. Hopefully they can mow through the rest of August with only minor bumps and bruises. Keeping a team healthy for 162 games is quite a feat. Fans of the Home Town Team look for more of the recent past and only hope the (now 8 game) winning streak continues.
I'm not going to lie, I am quite a baseball fan. There's something to be said about enjoying America's Pastime in the great outdoors, where it was meant to be played. Of course, opening up the game to the elements can come with the threat of delays and rainouts. Maybe it's beginners luck, but Target Field has only experienced one rainout this season, which occurred at the beginning of May. With only 28 home games left from now until the beginning of October, we can only hope that Mother Nature doesn't throw us any curve balls.
Showers and thunderstorms may be ongoing through parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Monday, which may persist through early Tuesday. Strong upper level winds continue to sail overhead keeping things a little unsettled. There will be days of sunshine this week, but a slightly soggy day can't be ruled out either.
Atlantic Basin Acting Up
The National Hurricane Center is tracking a cluster of thunderstorms in the Atlantic Basin. As of 2pm Sunday the cluster of storms had an 80% probability of growing into a tropical depression or tropical storm withing the next 48 hours. See more from the NHC here:
Curious About the Next Storm Name?
We've already seen Alex and Bonnie in the Atlantic Basin this season, but what's next? The National Hurricane Center has a list of names that goes out for several years, see below:
Colin would be the next named storm... do you see your name on the list? Ever wondered how naming storms came to be? Read more here:
Severe Risk for Monday
The Storm Prediction Center again has parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin under a SLIGHT RISK of severe weather for Monday.
Here's a look at the 6 hour precipitation accumulation from 1pm Monday to 7pm Monday, note that there doesn't appear to be any large bullseyes of rain accumulation. However, any thunderstorm that develops may have the capability of large quantities of rain over a short amount of time. Thunderstorms have a unique way of concentrating all the moisture in the atmosphere into a condensed column, which can come down over your backyard if you are lucky enough.
That's all for now, have a good Monday - Todd Nelson
