"Summer Breeze, Makes Me Feel Fine"
Ahh, now this is more like it. Thanks to a reinforcing cool front, we'll be enjoying two straight days of worry free, stress free weather. Meteorologist region-wide can shut off the Doppler, open the windows and watch clouds float by for a couple of days. A cool, Canadian air mass has drifted into the Upper Mississippi Valley. Temperature deficits today will be nearly 15 to 20 degrees cooler than what we had on Tuesday.
Hot weather has definitely been a 'hot' topic around the water cooler lately. From the international border to the Gulf Coast states, temperature readings have been well above average. In fact, it has been so warm this summer that a buoy on southern Lake Michigan, 40 miles off shore, reported a temperature of 80 degrees on Sunday afternoon. 30 years of data for this location show the last occurrence was in 2001. The warmest reading ever recorded here was 81 degrees back on August 15, 1995 - the same year that a 5 day heat-wave claimed the lives of nearly 700 people in Chicago.
Heat and humidity will make a return to Minnesota and Wisconsin this weekend along with some thunder potential. Soak up the sun and more comfy weather while it's here.

Aurora Update
Tuesday night's/early Wednesday morning's northern lights show did come to fruition and several people were able to sneak a peak of the brilliant lights. The image below comes from Spaceweather.com near Chippewa Falls, WI - see more here: and here at www.spaceweather.com
Good news, if you didn't get a chance to see the lights the last couple of nights, you're still in luck... the forecast still calls for active conditions in the northern latitudes through the 5th, see the forecast here:
