Icy Sunshine Continues
Sunshine and blue sky is a bit deceiving at this time of the year, isn't it? It sure looks nice from the window, but when you step outside it stings a little. Icy sunshine continues today as the first round of Arctic air modifies slightly and oozes east over the central and eastern Great Lakes region. This airmass is cold enough for some lake effect snow showers, which has been significant downwind of Lake Michigan where several feet of snow has already been reported!

Still Chilly & Somewhat Snowy
We get a brief break from the extreme cold this week as light snow develops. Light accumulations are possible through the first couple of days of the week with shovelable amounts along the Minnesota River Valley and in southwestern Minnesota through Wednesday morning.
The second round of Arctic air will spill south of the international border next weekend on the backside of, what looks to be, a developing storm over the Upper Midwest on Friday. The extended forecast is hinting at a slightly higher potential of accumulating snow near the Twin Cities Friday and Saturday... It's still early, but there's no doubt it's winter. Just like those old fashioned we used to have - Todd Nelson
