A good friend of mine, Matt Herrmann, sent this picture to me from Denver, Colorado yesterday. Not only are we expected to warm up, but the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains should warm substantially as well. Denver recorded some sub-zero overnight low temperatures early this week, now may see daytime high temperatures Sunday through Tuesday around 60F - That's quite a warm up! Enjoy your time out there Herrmann, looks pretty nice... I have to be honest, I'm kind of jealous.
Warmer Forecast, but More Active
Now, this is more like it! High temperatures in the 30s and overnight lows staying above zero. I'm not a big fan of freezing my butt off, having to hunch over in the car while it takes it's sweet time warming up. High temps in the 30s will be common on the extended forecast maps now. In fact, 40F isn't out of the question either, so enjoy.
We can thank a milder 'Pacific' flow for our much needed thaw. The strong upper level wind, instead of dipping well south of the International border, is now blowing in from more of a westerly direction, near the Pacific Ocean.
This weather set up tends to be a little more active, so we'll likely have a few chances of light precipitation. Depending on temperatures, we'll be flirting with either a little light snow or a little rain. These weak, clipper, systems will come through quite frequently over the next 5 to 7 days. One can be expected just about every day or every other day. Each one will cloud us up a bit and give us a quick shot at light precipitation, mainly through northern Minnesota.
End of Next Week - Chance of Friday Snow and Colder Temps
Stronger 'Clipper' Moves through Friday - Tugs in Colder Temps Next Weekend, but Not Arctic!
Friday's clipper looks more substantial as it rattles through with some snow, possibly light accumulations and colder temps next weekend. Have a good Saturday - Todd Nelson
