Severe Storm Warnings Twin Cities Area (threat eases for metro St. Cloud)


Severe Storm Warnings. NWS Doppler radar at 1:22 pm. The NWS reports numerous trees down in Minnetrista  Severe storms will sweep across the metro between now and 3 pm, some capable of 1"+ hail and wind gusts over 60 mph, along with 2"+ rains capable of street and stream flooding.


 ...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHERN
HENNEPIN AND EAST CENTRAL CARVER COUNTIES UNTIL 130 PM CDT...

AT 106 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF
60 MPH.  THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM MAPLE
GROVE TO MEDICINE LAKE TO CHANHASSEN...MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH.

IN ADDITION...AT 1250 PM...TRESS WERE REPORTED DOWN IN MINNETRISTA.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
  MINNEAPOLIS...EDEN PRAIRIE...HOPKINS...NEW HOPE...GOLDEN VALLEY...
  ST LOUIS PARK...CRYSTAL...ROBBINSDALE...EDINA AND RICHFIELD.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 60 MILES PER
HOUR...LARGE HAIL...AND DEADLY LIGHTNING. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO
AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS.



Severe Storm Watch Until 7 PM. Much of southern and central Minnesota is in the watch box, including the Twin Cities and St. Cloud.
